The Chesapeake Utilities & Eastern Shore Natural Gas campus comprises 55,727 square foot of two story class “A” office space featuring a central lobby with monumental staircase, reception area, and adjoining multi-function conference and meeting spaces. The lobby and surrounding common use areas serve the two company entities which reside on each side of the common space. A dedicated data and gas control operations center, customer service, and exposed architectural steel are just some of interior highlights. An abundance of natural daylight is harvested through the use of multiple curtainwall and exterior windows systems in coordination with the building’s exterior façade utilizing multiple masonry veneers blended together with profiled metal panels, cantilevered canopies, and aluminum sun shades. State of the art natural gas fired heat pumps, high efficiency LED lighting, lighting controls, and low water use plumbing fixtures will be employed as energy efficient elements. As energy savings, sustainable management, and operations of the building and campus are of great importance, green roofs and Green Globe certification will be part of the overall sustainable objectives.


In support of the office structure, a 32,402 square foot warehouse and 9,600 square foot vehicle canopy are part of the overall campus plan. The warehouse contains a separate wellness center, locker rooms, training, testing, inspection, and workshop areas along with palletized storage for company operations. Vehicle drive-thru capability has been designed via access ramps and numerous overhead doors which are situated at various points to access the building and canopy covered loading dock. An overhead bridge crane to assist in loading and unloading of heavy equipment and materials is an integral part of the warehouse function. In addition to providing weather protection to the fleet vehicles, trailers, and other machinery, the stand-alone vehicle canopy has built-in storage to house tools and other required items for daily functions. Bay lighting and general purpose power help to serve this 24/7 structure.


With convenient access to both RT.13 & RT.1, the complete Dover, Delaware campus is situated on 20+ acres with several entrances to the buildings, pedestrian sidewalks, large lighted parking lots, landscaping with assorted trees and shrubs, stormwater management pond, natural gas generator for building redundancy, secured rear yard for pipe storage, spoil bins, and compressed natural gas storage tanks. A natural gas filling station located in the rear of the property is designed for public access and use and is a showcased element of the property. The campus will serve as link between the community at large and Chesapeake Utilities & Eastern Shore Natural Gas family for many years to come.
